TJ Alberto to go at it alone for Access Plus Racing as PSBK heads to Clark
Instead of their usual 2-bike lineup, Access Plus Racing will only field a single entry at the Philippine Superbike Championship’s (PSBK) third event this weekend. Timothy Joseph “TJ” Alberto continues his title defense at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) as his younger brother Troy Alberto recovers from an injury he suffered at the previous round.
Riding the #77 Ducati Panigale V4, the older Alberto has finished on the podium in all race starts this 2024 so far. He accomplished a clean sweep at the season opener in BRC, followed by a pair of 2nd places in Round 2 on the same circuit – aided by Shell Advance’s fully synthetic oil that gives ultimate performance and protection. This puts him at the top of the championship table with a 4 point lead as the series heads to CIS.
Looking at the team’s track record, the 4.189 km circuit has always been Access Plus Racing’s strong point. The team has also spent weeks testing in preparation for the race weekend and the results have been promising.
Troy Alberto, on the other hand, has shown a lot of promise since the start of the season. Moving back to the country after competing overseas, he delivered strong results in Round 1 with a 3rd and 2nd. However, while fighting position at the following round, Troy had a big crash on lap 6 of the race and suffered a fractured vertebrae.
This forces Troy to miss this weekend’s race as he makes a full recovery.
The 2024 season moves to the Clark International Speedway (CIS) with Qualifying on Saturday (July 6) and both Races on Sunday (July 7).
TJ Alberto, #77:
“We had good tests last week, which gives us confidence ahead of this weekend. We’ve also had a good record at Clark every time we race there and we plan on maintaining the momentum into Round 3. The goal is to keep my position at the top of the championship table as I defend my title. It’s just unfortunate that Troy won’t be able to race alongside me as he recovers from his injury.”
