TJ Alberto Has Eyes On Retaining PSBK Title After Another Race Win

TJ Alberto heads to the season finale of the 2022 Philippine Superbike Championship knowing he must win if he wants to retain his title.

A strong showing in the penultimate round of the series last time out saw TJ once again in contention, but unfortunately after he was taken out in the opening race, he trails in the points by fourteen, despite bouncing back with a win in Race 2!

With it all to play for in a couple of weeks, TJ is fully focused on the task at hand, and is eager to put the disappointment of the last round behind him.

TJ Alberto:
“I was feeling quite good at Batangas after a test and was running lap record times. I was calm and was leading overall by nineteen points. I narrowly missed Pole by 0.050s and after making a good start and not even racing one turn, my race was over. I was wiped out by a wayward rider, but my bike was destroyed, and I was unable to restart. It was a huge shame, and I felt so bad for the entire team. We had been working on being so consistent all season and this was just unbelievable. The team did a fantastic job to rebuild the bike. I had to start P12 as I hadn’t recorded a lap time in the first race. I was up to second by the end of the first lap but had a deficit of 2.5s. I dug deep and took the lead on the seventh lap. I was able to win to keep the championship hopes alive and I am confident that we have every chance to achieve our goal in the final round in November.”
